We even ran into a noon concert that made me feel like we'd stumbled upon the Central Park scene from the movie Enchanted! The band, The Paperboys, is sort of a mix of Irish, big band, Mexican and folk music. By the end of the concert, the space in front of the stage was full of people dancing (even me - if you can't dance in the street on your birthday, when can you?).

Playing Hooky
Thanks to eveyone who sent me birthday wishes yesterday! Joe and I played hooky for the day and had an absolutely great time playing tourists downtown.

Sounds like you had a great celebration. Hope you had cake too.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had so much fun on your birthday!
ReplyDeleteI sent you a little something in the mail yesterday. :)
What a fabulous way to celebrate your birthday, Karen! Glad you were able to dance in the street and play tourist in your fascinating city.
ReplyDeleteThanks all! And yes, I did get cake - our last stop was the Icon Grill downtown where they serve a slice of chocolate cake as big as my head. Seven layers of chocolatey goodness! I'm still working on it - even with Joe's help.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday!! Sorry I missed the big day, but I hope you're still celebrating (or basking in the glow of the memories of the fun day). Seven layers of chocolate? Joe knows how to plan an itinerary!
